UPDATED (7/22 – 8:05 pm): The hike is still a go for this Saturday, July 24 (same time; same location). Due to the inaccuracy of weather reports as of late, Scoutmaster Jarod will only call off the hike if the weather is bad on Saturday morning (the day of the event).
Who’s ready for a hike? On July 24, Scoutmaster Jarod will lead the Troop on a five mile hike around the Cherokee Trail at Stone Mountain State Park. This is open to all Scouts, and for those who have not earned it already, this will satisfy requirement 3b in the Second Class rank requirements.
3b. Using a compass and map together, take a 5-mile hike (or 10 miles by
Second Class Rank Requirements, Scouting.org
bike) approved by your adult leader and your parent or guardian.
The hike is expected to take 2 – 3 hours to complete. All participants should bring plenty of water, a snack (if desired) and perhaps even a daypack to carry it all.
If you’re ready for an adventure, meet at 8:30 a.m. at the parking lot on the corner of Robert E. Boulevard and Stonewall Jackson Drive. You can use the address below in Google Maps, and it will get you to the location.
Parking lot, Stonewall Jackson Dr, Stone Mountain, GA 30087
Please note that a parking pass is required to enter Stone Mountain State Park. For parking pass details, please see the Stone Mountain website [here].
