Hogpen Gap to Unicoi Gap on the AT

The annual trip open to those Scouts who are Star Rank and above will be a continuation of last year’s hike on the Appalachian Trail. So, they will start their trip where they ended last year at Hogpen Gap. They will camp there, then hike all day Saturday as well as Sunday morning to get to Unicoi Gap before returning home that afternoon. It’s about a 17 mile hike.
Scouts will meet at the Scout Hut on Friday at 5:45pm for a 6:15pm departure. They should eat dinner before they arrive. There is no cost or grubmaster for this trip since the campers will be responsible for bringing their own food. They should bring trail food for four meals: Saturday breakfast, Saturday lunch, Sunday breakfast and Sunday lunch. For Saturday dinner, they should bring one item to share.
Of course, gas money for the drivers is appreciated.
The deadline to sign up for this trip is Tuesday, February 18th.
