Squirrel’s Nest Campout

A strange as it may sound, we will be staying at a “squirrel’s nest” for the September campout. These unique platform structures are found at [Unicoi State Park] in Helen, GA.

This primitive campsite at Unicoi State Park in Helen, GA is home to unique platforms known as the “Squirrel’s Nest”.

Ms. Jean Hilyard and Mr. Beau Grant will be the adult leaders / coordinators for this campout on September 15 – 17. Jean has reserved 7 “nests”/platforms for the campout, which allows for 28 people (Scouts and adults) – 4 per “nest”.

Tents are not allowed on the platforms or down in the hollow (pictured above). The “hollow” has grills, picnic tables and a group fire ring.

For this campout, Scouts / adults must either use a sleeping bag, air mattress or a hammock. Tent camping will not be permitted at this event.

The cost for this campout will be $30 ($16 for food + $14 for our planned activity – 3D Archery). Money is due by September 5, which can be paid at the meeting that Tuesday night or in advance via [PayPal].
