Winter is coming…
Let’s go camping!
North Georgia is expected to have high precipitation this year, which means opportunities to camp in the snow.
We can’t be sure of snow, so signing up for this trip requires Scouts and adults to be ready to go on short notice. The exact time, dates, locations are unknown. The most likely location is the Blue Ridge or Coopers Creek WMAs (near Dahlonega).
Signing up doesn’t guarantee a trip, it just adds you to a text thread. If conditions look good, Mr. Chris May will send out a coordinating text on a Thursday night for a Friday night or a very early Saturday morning departure. We will meet locally and travel together in the fewest possible vehicles. Ideally, we’ll have a second adult driver with 4WD (or AWD) and high clearance.
Snow camping is rewarding but challenging. Scouts and adults need to have proper gear and be proficient with their equipment. There can be no sloppy tent pitches, no boots falling apart and no summer-weight sleeping bags. Scouts and adults can have much of their gear packed and ready. Check out the [Packed / Unpacked Gear List] on the [Resources] page for some ideas on what you can leave packed.
Sign-up to be added this weekend.
Please contact Mr. May with any questions.
