Hopefully everyone is ready for more camping, because we have two opportunities for the month of March. The first campout will be at Dauset Trails (March 4 – 6).
The Troop has not camped at Duaset Trails since 2018, so most of the current active Scouts will likely never have been. There will be “turkey roost” platforms (basically an adirondack shelter on steroids) that Scouts can sleep on, but tent camping will also be available. You can learn a bit more about Dauset Trails here [www.dausettrails.com].
The adult taking the lead on this campout is Bill Penkava. Here are some of the activities planned for this event.
- We will be hiking over to the Animal Trail as a troop and viewing all the “beasties” for most all of Saturday morning (likely heading out from camp over to the trail around 9 am).
- Kristi Bluett will lead an Orienteering Course Saturday afternoon (around 1 pm).
- Jim Carey will lead an important TBD scouting skill session Saturday afternoon also (for those not working on orienteering).
Bill will plan on arriving to the campsite mid-afternoon. There is not a specific time Scouts/adults need to arrive; everyone should have already eaten (or bring something to eat for dinner). The first Scout (and adult) meal cooked at the campout will be breakfast on Saturday morning.
The deadline to sign-up for this campout was February 22.
