UPDATE (8/16/21 – 8:15 pm): We will not meet at the pool tomorrow evening due to expected weather conditions in the Atlanta area. In fact, there will be no Troop meeting tomorrow evening. The plan is to postpone this by 1 week and instead meet at the pool on August 24 (same time).
Some of the hardest rank requirements to complete in First and Second Class revolve around aquatics. They are not necessarily difficult to complete, but they can be a logistical nightmare to plan out. Good news! Our advancement chair Mrs. Kristi Bluett has secured some time for the Troop at the Westhampton Pool on August 24.

Instead of our normal Troop meeting on August 24, we will meet at the Westhampton Pool from 6:30 – 9 p.m. (which is 1 hour earlier than normal) to work on First and Second Class aquatic requirements. Scouts will (hopefully) be able to complete all of these requirements except the “Line and Tender Rescue” (requirement 6e) that is part of First Class. This will be the last opportunity for Scouts to complete these requirements (at least with the Troop) before next summer.
In addition, we will use this meeting to have a cookout with the Troop! This is a great opportunity for parents to attend a Troop meeting, meet/mingle with other parents in the Troop and get to know the Troop leadership.
We plan to have hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, etc. at the event. If you plan to join in on the fun, please fill out the sign-up sheet here:
Mrs. Bluett is looking for at least one parent/adult volunteer to arrive a bit early (6 pm) to help unload and get the grill going. If you are able to assist, please reach out to her as soon as possible.
